A global destination for original art + culture with insights into contemporary practice.
Contemporary artists at the core of creativity & the future of art.
Featuring the most innovative & ambitious visual artists.
Juniper Rag's mission is to elevate artists, driven in our ability to showcase exceptional contemporary artists and create opportunities. Founded to bring a new platform for ambitious emerging and mid-level artists, Juniper Rag has established a dynamic community of art-makers and collectors.
Our culture is evolving exponentially and art-making is moving in new directions, continuing to bridge a gap between contemporary art and the future of art. We will consider processes and forms of production with contemporary means, including an increased reliance on digital technologies, for art making in-process and for public viewing. We contribute to the discourse surrounding art today, new mediums with technology, and exploring the intersection of contemporary art practices with the future of art in all forms.
Juniper Rag was established in 2020, as new digital and print platform to promote artists. Co-founded by Michelle May and Payal Thiffault, of Atelier ID Global in Massachusetts. Covid-19 gave a fresh perspective about how artists market their work. Juniper Rag provides an online platform for virtual and live exhibitions, artists features and opportunities with other cultural and art organizations through our network. We have promoted over a thousand artists, host or curate 10-12 exhibitions a year.
Deeply embedded in our global community, we strategically partner and collaborate with galleries, non-profits, curators and businesses to push the boundaries of ordinary practices of art viewing and collecting. We are looking at the future with a big lens, and foresee incredible intersections with the digital world. With years of trend forecasting, art buying, and digital marketing, we are positioned to amplify and showcase your art strategically. We are marketers and mad connectors with 25 years of experience in the luxury goods market, working with brands like Condé Nast | BRIDES, Wynn Companies, GILT, Neiman Marcus and more. Our work has been featured on The Today Show, in Martha Stewart, BRIDES, and on BRIDES Live Weddings.

Juror’s Advice from Juniper Rag
Originality in Concept: Our jurors have a keep eye for unique and clever artwork that shine as original ideas. Jurors want to see artwork that is cohesive, eye catching, skillfully executed and clearly stands out, conceptually, or in execution and unique sensibility. Cool ideas and excellent art are rewarded with attention. Be the top dog.
Technical Presentation: This refers to the artist’s mark-making, proficiency and skills handling their medium. Individual style is rewarded and sloppiness or incohesive presentations and poorly submitted work that does not follow instructions is noted.
Composition: Elements within the artwork should have a persuasive hierarchy and demonstrate an understanding of and perhaps a playfulness around balance, movement, and focus. Our jurors note clearly structured compositions that guide the viewer’s eye through the artwork or establish a sense of stability within a piece.
Mastery of Medium: Effective use of a medium. Innovative or skilled the applications are noted and complicated moves that can’t be determined are interesting. Process must be clearly described so jurors understand “what is happening” in the piece, or how it was derived. Details like this can make work remarkable. Explain the cool factors.
Creativity and Innovation: The ability to interpret a subject or concept in a creative way is highly valued. Judges will look for new ways of expressing ideas.
Emotional Impact: To earn attention, your art must SPEAK to the audience in some way. Either way. Jurors are humans and can predict how effectively the artwork connects with viewers on an emotional or intellectual level once they understand all of the processes and the story.
Interpretation of Exhibition Concept: If our exhibition has a theme, your work and statements should clearly address it. The artist’s ability to connect their art to the overall concept of the show can also impact how the piece is evaluated and either cut it or make it the show poster art. Be the winner here. Your art will go everywhere.
Presentation: Everything about your overall presentation is taken into consideration. Execute wisely and proficiently. Your art should be masterfully presented, like it was a gift to the queen. Really. Imagine that each presentation could be your key to success, because it can. Each of your connections remembers these things about your work, your habits and your attention to details. Make them look good.
Shipping: Always pack and ship your art with the same attention and include a few pieces of marketing materials, your note of authenticity and make sure you sign it. Preference is on the back, side or neatly as possible. Signatures that are clunky and take away from the artwork can destroy your chances. Details.
Overall Impact & Memorable Work: Artwork can inspire a lasting impression and this X-Factor gets you attention. Resonate with your viewer. Be extra.

Guest Juror Collabs
Curating visual art is a complex process and a form of creativity in itself, a delicate organization that requires an innate understanding of artistic skill, color choices, composition, process, materials and selecting work on merit. Approaching the task of curating with a unique lens adds an unparalleled layer of depth and connection to the collection, bringing forth the aspect of capturing a story within the selections, revealing the relationship between the art and the curator’s instinct.
Each guest curator brings their own experiences, biases, and emotions to the table. Their experiences make each selection unique.
This personal touch infuses the artwork selection process with a sense of subjectivity, allowing for a diverse range of perspectives to be represented within our exhibitions.
We appreciate the individuality of each guest curation.
The subject matter chosen by the curator fits within their scope as described in our instructions.
Curators seek to create meaningful connections between the artwork and the viewer as a body of work, not just choosing randomly.
They consider how each piece might evoke certain feelings, spark introspection, or challenge us, forging a bridge between the artist's intention and the audience's interpretation.
