Nick Capasso, Director of the Fitchburg Art Museum states, “John Pagano is an immensely accomplished painter who extends important traditions of abstract painting into the 21st century.

With roots in the work of Gorky, deKooning, and Twombly, he creates lyrical and colorful images that suggest subtle and ineffable mental states.”

We have collaborated to fulfill missions for both Worcester Center for Crafts and Juniper Rag, to promote and elevate artists and to build a creative community through promotion and appreciation. Our goal is to introduce more artists to WCC and Juniper Rag magazine, while continuing to promote the artists we already work with.

Upon purchasing a piece of Pagano’s work, writer Sarah Connell Sanders says,

“We hung the painting above our fireplace. We poured glasses of wine and played Leonard Cohen on vinyl. We began to examine the stories we could see in every brushstroke and tried to imagine the details concealed from our consciousness...Pagano’s canvas held all of the creative energy of a warehouse rave without any of the repercussions.”

Worcester Center For Crafts:

The Worcester Center for Crafts (WCC) is the oldest non-profit, educational craft center in the US, founded in 1856.

It has evolved over the past 164 years into New England's leading public center for craft education, exhibition & entrepreneurship. WCC annually serves a broad public audience of 20-30K comprised of professional & emerging artists, art enthusiasts & hobbyists, adults, youth and their families, collectors, patrons & students. In 2009, WCC expanded its vision as a community resource when it affiliated with Worcester State University (WSU) to create a unique public/private partnership that allows the center to remain an independent 501c3 organization by providing studio space for WSU classes. WCC offers adult classes (<1500 students) taught by artists in ceramics, photography, jewelry, enameling, blacksmithing, forging, fiber arts and hot and cold glass at every level of skill as well as college level classes. In addition over 30 WSU visual and performing classes (700 students) are held at WCC. Our youth program emphasizes an interdisciplinary study of craft including science, history, and math. The beautiful and WCC Krikorian Gallery hosts 8-10 high quality exhibits annually that create visibility and selling opportunities for artists and professional crafts.

WCC's Artist in Residence (AIR) program in ceramics, glass and metals enable artists to spend 1-2 years at WCC, honing their studio practice. We also host college and high school interns and many volunteers. Our Gallery Store represents over 300 American artists, creating a market for craft and artists. These programs are the core to fulfilling our mission to "inspire and build a creative community through the education, promotion and appreciation of craft.” WCC offers timeshare rental opportunities in our ceramics department as well as rent time at our glass studio, as a service to professional and community artists. WCC hosts events like the Festival of Crafts, with 60 artists and 3-5,000 visitors and a 3-day event called the Pottery Invitational. Artists from all over the US show their work at these shows.

Our mission: "to inspire and build a creative community through the promotion, appreciation and teaching of craft." We accomplish this by providing high-quality craft education and training for adults and youth, by supporting craft artists in their professional development, and through advocacy and public initiatives that create and nourish a dynamic market and appreciation for craft and teaching all ages and abilities, inspiring growth and reaching new audiences.

A big thank you to CC Lowell, who provided special pricing for our artists boards for Artist on Fire and who always support artists in the Worcester community.
